Color Certification:
We certify our foundation dogs as to color type.
Mickey is a Silver Lab, and although the certification says chocolate is the
DNA coat color, its all a question of semantics.
Since the AKC doesn't recognize the Silver as a color type to its own,
but as a variation of the chocolate coat, it
will show the color as Chocolate..
NEW DILUTION GENE TEST BY THIS COMPANY
Distribution of color in the individual hairs of the
dog are the primary reason we see coat colors
as they appear on the dog. Below is a chart showing photomicrographs
of individual hairs from the
different colors of Lab's.
Note: The hair shafts of both the charcoal and silver
are very similar to each other, even while
showing characteristics of the other colors such as
the yellow and chocolate Labs.
